BEAUTIFUL SUNSET

Troy Bird

Turning slowly I look out the window.
A smile spreads across my lips
I realize that this is probably the most beautiful sunset I have ever witnessed.
"Why is it?" I ask my self.
"Because I will it to be so" I answer.
The view rolls farther and the sunset is lost.
And at that second, the weight of the statement over comes me.
"Why didn't I ever figure this out sooner?
well I know now, that's all that maters"
Slowly the sunset comes back into view.
All around me people are silently screaming, thrashing, praying. I see them, but don't care.
The hull buckles, engineered structures shred like so much confetti in the wind. My mind goes dark.
All I have left is the slowly fading image of the most beautiful sunset in my whole life.
